Top 10 Things to Do Sydney September 2014

For all of our resident Sydneysiders and for those visiting from near and afar, I have put together a Top 10 List of Things to Do in Sydney during September.  As always, Sydney presents a fantastic choice of activities and events to choose from – from exhibitions, to fashion shows, to sporting and cultural events, Sydney pulls out all the stops.   Here goes – let’s see how many we can get through!

 

1. Sydney Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival

If you fancy yourself a style-setter with a keen eye for a fashion bargain, this is just the ticket. Fashion Festival Fix starts with general admission to a show of your choice and culminates in access to all the buzz of the Fashion Festival Hub (home to beauty consultations, freebies, the festival bar and more). Ticket prices start at $35 for general admission or for an exclusive VIP experience pay $150 to be Front Row and Fabulous!

2. Orange Blossom Festival Designer Markets

The Designer Markets – Fashion. Accessories, Homewares & More!

The Designer Markets are Sydney's newest Pop Up retail market specifically for designers to showcase their exclusive range. Visit 'The Designer Markets' at various locations throughout NSW in 2014. Find the latest in woman’s & men’s fashion, accessories, baby & kids, home wares and so much more! All unique pieces which can’t be found in your larger retail stores.

3. Mindful Beauty Workshop

Have you ever wanted to get the look with make-up that the professionals achieve? Would you like to learn to apply your make-up to really enhance your beauty and your style? And would you enjoy feeling beautiful on the inside too: more confident, more relaxed and more authentically yourself?

If this sounds like you, the Mindful Beauty Workshop has been designed with you in mind.

4. Eurofest 2014

The theme for Eurofest is cross cultural awareness. The idea is to give the local ethnic community an opportunity to showcase their cultures, and the rest of the area an opportunity to visit and demystify the clubs. Above all the festival is a fun day for all the family.

5. Blackmores Running Festival

Join in the fun of the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival on Sunday 21st September and enjoy Australia's most scenic course. All four events start in Bradfield Park, Milson's Point and travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

6. Manly Retro Ride

Cycle back through time by joining the annual Manly Retro Ride.  You're invited to dress in your retro or vintage best to showcase the stylish side of cycling!

7. Fawlty Towers Dining Experience Sydney Opera House

Basil, Sybil and Manuel return having sold-out here in July as well as last year. Serving a 3-course meal with a good dollop of mayhem, this 'hilarious battle of wits, patience, fire extinguishers and fine food' (-Australian Traveller) arrives during yet another world tour. It's the show to see!

8. Italian Wine & Food Festival

Sydney Italian Wine & Food Festival 2014

Everything good about eating and drinking in Italy comes together this September for the first ever Sydney Italian Wine + Food Festival. What better way to spend a Sunday celebrating and exploring Italian wine and food. Food lovers will revel in our cooking demonstrations in the Smeg Kitchen, shop Italian goodies in the market, food talks, plus the crowning of Australia’s top lasagne maker in ‘Alessandro’s Lasagne Challenge‘. Wine lovers can sample over 250 premium Italian wines from regional stands, join in the wine masterclasses and taste Artisan Italian beer. Take it all in as you relax in the Italian wine garden listening to live Italian jazz music. As they say Italians Do It Better.

9. St. Ives Medieval Faire

From jousting knights to viking wars and birds of prey displays, join thousands of sydneysiders taking a step back to medieval times.

When: 20th - 21st September

10. Festival of The Winds

Festival of the Winds - Waverley Council

Make sure you don’t miss Sydney's most colourful spring festival, The Festival of the Winds kite flying festival which promises to be a great day out for the whole family. Colourful cartoon characters, giant animals and flowers, fighter kites, box kites, delta kites and more make the skies come alive over Sydney's most famous beach! Australian and international kite flyers will showcase their great flying skills and wonderful hand-made creations.  Why not join in and fly your own kite on the beach or make your own wonderful creation at one of the kite making workshops on offer throughout the day!

Food stalls from all over the world, free dance workshops, children's rides, workshops, demonstrations, roaming entertainment, puppet shows, art exhibitions in the Bondi Pavilion Gallery, a full days entertainment program and all sorts of activities make the Festival of the Winds one of Sydney's most loved and lively annual events.
