Top Fashion Trends for Fall 2016

Posted by Tracy Gerges on

As Paris Fashion week concludes the Fall 2016 shows, specific trends and themes were apparent.  Although most were prepping for the Fall season, the shows were far from cold, with floral and coloured patterns dominating a number of them seeing Dolce and Gabbana even taking it a step further with a Disney themed show.  If you ask us - Dolce and Disney, the perfect combination. Here are a few trends that stood out for us here at Pica LéLa.

Florals Galore

Florals seemed to be the go to theme this year, inspiring a lot of designs including accessories.  Whether it was Elie Saab's bold floral leather jacket, or Dolce and Gabbana’s fairy tale inspired dresses, designers did not shy away from florals regardless of the season.

Statement Making Pieces

All eyes were on statement pieces which were featured in most of the shows with designers focused on bold accessories and size was not an issue, with some shows allowing accessories to take the lead on many of the looks presented.

Pearls, Pearls, and even more Pearls!

No matter the season, you cannot go wrong with pearls, and this fall season most designers seemed to agree.  Pearl designs ranged from the classic, to bold contemporary twists on traditional styles.

Did Someone Say Disney?

If we're being honest it was only Dolce and Gabbana who explored this theme, but here at Pica LéLa, we love showcasing our fun and youthful side. So we’ve decided Disney deserved its own section – You are welcome.  While Dolce was not far off from the trends presented in other shows, featuring statement pieces and floral patterns, Disney Fairy Tales was the predominant theme. They even managed to slip in some glass slippers (pun intentional!).

Overall the predominant trends forecast this years daring and statement making looks. They inspire a new story for every girls wardrobe because we all deserve our own Cinderella moment!
