Festive Jewellery to Celebrate the Year of the Sheep 2015

Chinese New Year, also called lunar New Year of the Chinese Spring Festival, holds the most significant position amongst all Chinese festivals and holidays.  It falls on February 19 in 2015. The celebration includes decorations, parades, folk traditions, and a wonderful feast.

According to University of Sydney emeritus professor of Chinese literature Jeffrey Riegel, "The Chinese New Year is also a chance to celebrate the old year and welcome the new year." He said. " They clear their debts, celebrate their togetherness, and by being together pave the way for even more prosperity."

According to Chinese astrology, each year (starting from Chinese New Year) is associated with an animal sign, occurring in a 12-year cycle. The 12 zodiac animals are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. And this year is the year of the Sheep.

According to University of Sydney emeritus professor of Chinese literature Jeffrey Riegel, "The yang, or sheep, is known for its docile character, so people expect life will be more manageable. The sheep is also in early Chinese mythology thought to be a creature that knows instinctively the difference between good and bad, virtue and evil. So people expect that in the Year of the Sheep, justice will dominate." he said.

Characteristics of people born in the year of Sheep are tender, polite, filial, clever, and kind-hearted. They have a special sensitivity to art and beauty, faith in a certain religion and a special fondness for quiet living. They are wise, gentle and compassionate and can cope with business cautiously and circumspectly. In their daily life, they try to be economical. Women born in this year are willing to take good care of others, but they should avoid pessimism and hesitation.
